It’s been a while since we posted up to date in-game screenshots. This series takes you from a high-level strategic view all the way down to ship-level!
High-level Strategic View
The circular outlines that cover the screen here represent radar coverage of both the player’s ships and planets. The straight lines represent the movement trajectory of a player controlled ship.
From this position you can select a ship/fleet and set their orders. In this image you can see it would take the selected ship 10 hours and 34 minutes to travel between the 2 points.
Planetary System Strategic Views
From the above image you can zoom in to any star where you have a ship or a colonised planet, down to the level shown in these 2 images.
The first image shows enemy ships and their current trajectories depicted by red arrows. The current player has various ships in orbit around the planets and has sent a couple of small fleets to intercept.
In the 2nd image you can see a darker style planetary system with player controlled ships on the move.
Taking a Closer Look
The first of this pair of images is zoomed in a little towards this planet and orbiting ship. To keep a sense of scale, at this range the ship is still represented by a light blue/white icon.
The 2nd image shows the type of view you can expect if you zoom in closer. The ship detail can now be seen. We could zoom in further still from here to get an even closer look at our ship!
Zoom in for Detailed Ships and Planets
In Beyond Dark players can view both planets and ships/fleets up close. View your custom-designed ship against the backdrop of one of your empire’s spectacular planets!
More to Come
In the next week or 2 we’ll get some gameplay videos uploaded so you can see scenes like this in action.
Please note that while we are pleased with the visual results on display here, we are still working on improving the quality for you guys further – ships in particular.
