Alpha patch 0.80 has just been released via Steam to all Alpha players.
This release includes improvements to the UI – the continuation of the new label system which was recently added to the star map.
Updating the game client: the game should be automatically updated via Steam. Please check here if the download doesn’t automatically start when you launch Steam.
New planet labels and tooltips
In the last UI update star systems got new, more informative labels e.g. it became possible to see if a planet in that system had a shipyard or whether any planets had an issue requiring attention.
This functionality has now been carried through to within the systems themselves and applied to the planet labels. Before, to see details of a planet you had to select the planet and enter the planet management view. With the new labels and tooltips it’s possible to see most of this information from the system view itself by hovering over each of the planets.
From the planet label itself you can now see:
- Population size
- Activity and progress of shipbuilding or structure construction queues
- Icons related to issues
From the tooltip that appears when hovering the label you can see:
- Planet environment data
- The populations on the planet
- Key structures on the planet and any construction activity
- Credits, power and resources on the planet and any rates of change
Reskinned fleet context menu
The fleet context menu has been reskinned inline with the rest of the UI. This is the menu that appears when a fleet is selected and another object is clicked e.g. when clicking a planet the menu options could include Colonize, Explore, or Attack.
We’ll be back soon with another update. Thanks everyone 🙂
