Alpha patch 0.79 has just been released via Steam to all Alpha players.
The focus of this patch was a scalability optimization – no new UI or gameplay enhancements were ready for this patch, but more improvements are on the way!
Updating the game client: the game should be automatically updated via Steam. Please check here if the download doesn’t automatically start when you launch Steam.
Recent optimizations performed by the developers delivered improvements in responsiveness that could be felt while playing. With this patch however, we’re not expecting players to notice a difference…
The focus was instead related to scalability (increasing the number of game objects that can be supported) in preparation for when there will be tens of thousands of players in the same test galaxy!
Client-side crashes fixed
The developers also managed to fix a client-side bug that was causing some frustration for players, so we’re pleased to have been able to also include that fix in this patch. If you do continue to experience issues related to performance or stability, please let us know in the forums.
We’ll be back again soon with another update 🙂
Full patch notes
Features and changes
- Scalability optimization to increase the number of game objects that can be supported in a galaxy
- A client-side bug was causing frequent crashes for players with many moving fleets.
- Battles were able to loop indefinitely if there was no winner. This has now been fixed, and we’ve added a new console command to enable players to clear up the spammed battle notifications. The downside is that it will delete ALL of your battle results, so use with caution:
