The new Pre-Beta galaxy was launched on Sunday and demand from players was much higher than we expected! Quite frankly, we were overwhelmed by the number of players that tried to join.
Players trying to join the galaxy since Monday night found it was already full and we’re very sorry for any frustration this caused.
Pre-Beta galaxy open again to new players
However, the Pre-Beta galaxy has just been expanded and is open again – ready for new players to join!
If you tried joining before while the Pre-Beta galaxy was full – or haven’t tried yet – we recommend that you join as soon as you can before it fills up again.
Visibility of stars outside scanner range disabled
There was one complication while working on the galaxy expansion that meant we had to disable the visibility of stars outside of scanner range unfortunately. We’re not sure yet if we’re going to be able to re-enable them for the Pre-Beta galaxy but will let you know one way or the other as soon as we can.
Patch 0.965 released
While expanding the galaxy just now we also released a new patch.
It fixes two of the most frequent/annoying bugs affecting players: 1) Typing in the chat window also moved the camera over the map, 2) Zooming to a fleet sometimes caused the game client to crash.
There were a couple of other bug fixes too, you can find out more in the full patch notes at the very end of this post.
Most active players in one day
On Monday, Outscape had the most active players for a single day so far – up around 50% on the previous high. The average session duration for players also increased by around 20%. It’s fantastic and encouraging to see a larger number of players enjoying the game more.
Thanks to all of you for joining the new galaxy, we really appreciate your support and help with testing the game 🙂 The pace of the game is still a little slow in the opening stages, but it does pickup after a few sessions if you stick with it.

Full patch notes
- Typing in the chat window moved the camera, when the keys pressed were camera shortcut keys e.g. A, D (move left and right), W, S (forward and backward), Q, E (rotate anti-clockwise and clockwise), R, F (up and down), Z, X (zoom in and out)
- Zooming to a fleet sometimes caused the game client to crash
- Destroying a ship based on a deleted blueprint sometimes caused the game client to crash
- Stationary ships sometimes had engine effects that falsely indicated movement
- Descriptions for Syntis specific technologies weren’t clear (they’ve been edited)
Updating the game client: the game should be automatically updated via Steam. Please check here if the download doesn’t automatically start when you launch Steam.
