We’re excited to announce that a new ‘Alpha 3’ galaxy will launch TOMORROW (Friday December 7th) at 16:00 UTC – finally!
Existing Alpha players
A new patch will be released at this time – existing Alpha players will then see the new ‘Alpha 3’ galaxy in the game selection list ready to join (in addition to the ongoing Alpha 2 galaxy).
More Steam Keys going out
Almost 2,000 players joined the last ‘Alpha 2’ galaxy but in this galaxy there will be even more players involved!
We’re preparing more invites right now and they’ll be emailed out before the launch of the new ‘Alpha 3’ galaxy. So if you’ve signed up before, check your inbox (and spam folder) to see if your luck is in (unfortunately we can’t invite everyone yet)!
Why is Outscape still in Alpha? What happened to Beta?
In August we announced Beta would launch before the end of November. The gist of the feedback we had from the community was that we should hold off until other integral gameplay features planned were ready – alliances, mainly.
Which makes sense. Although the current stability of the game could be considered Beta quality:
- Big features on the way will likely introduce a load of kinks that’ll need ironing out
- Announcing Beta now could have lead players to assume we weren’t planning to add many other new features – which couldn’t be further from the truth (see the Future Releases and What’s Coming Next section of the current roadmap)
Getting everyone else playing as soon as possible
But, we are still committed to getting everyone that has signed up to play doing so as soon as possible – which will happen during Alpha instead.
Although we are inviting more players to join the new ‘Alpha 3’ galaxy in time for its launch (Friday December 7th at 16:00 UTC), we’re not ready to invite everyone else just yet. But as soon as we can and have a fixed date we’ll let everyone know.
What’s new in the ‘Alpha 3’ Galaxy?
For the new players, it will all be new and we hope they love it 🙂
For those that are playing right now or have played before, there are a lot of new features and gameplay changes that are brand new to the game. The end result should be a better game that’s more fun to play – and we can’t wait to hear what you think!
We’ll post more details about the new galaxy tomorrow. If you can’t wait until then, the recent dev diary posts have covered some of the changes in detail – so check those out.
Thanks everyone, see you soon 🙂
