We have an interesting challenge for you regarding tonight’s server performance test and our CTO…[Read more…]
We need your help!
The devs made some performance optimizations to the servers recently and really need to confirm they are working as designed in the live game.
To do this, it’s crucial that we get as many Alpha players as possible online in the galaxy at the same time! If we get enough players online to test, it’ll save the devs needing to spend time writing bots to do it, meaning they can get to more exciting items on the BD roadmap faster.
Please share this with other players and remind them on the day. The more players we can get online for this test, the less chance there is of the servers turning to molten plasma when even more players join the galaxy.
If you’re not able to play, just logging in to the galaxy and leaving the game running in the background would also be appreciated.
Thanks everyone 🙂

The latest update to Alpha has just gone out and should already be available on Steam to Alpha players.
There are a few bug fixes and a couple of new features included in this update. One of which, is one of the most frequently requested features players have been asking for in the forum.
Up til now, detailed real-time info about a planet was only possible while a ship was within its orbit. As soon as the ship left orbit, it was no longer possible to see its resources or whether it was colonized by another player or not.[Read more…]
Today, Alpha was relaunched to the current Alpha players, many of whom have already joined the freshly minted test galaxy and began laying the foundations of their empires!
This is the final stage of Alpha, which will shortly transition into the start of Early Beta! More details at the end of this post 🙂
The game client distribution is now managed via Steam. All Alpha players should have received their Steam key via email by now (any Alpha player that hasn’t received theirs yet, please let us know).
Players that signed up for the Beta (Early and General) will start to receive their personal Steam keys once Alpha has finished and Beta is underway.
Since the last version of Alpha, a lot of improvements and features have been introduced to the game. For those that haven’t been following the Alpha blog, we’ll go over some of these now. You can also check out the full release notes for this update at the end of this post.

When Beta launches, you’ll be able to choose from four civilizations to play (eventually twelve). In development, we’ve already been working on two of these: Mankind and the Syntis, so they will be ready for Beta. We recently put up a post here on the Syntis and will do the same for Mankind soon.
But we need to decide the other two civilizations to have ready for Beta – which we thought we’d leave up to you guys![Read more…]
