On Friday last week, an Alpha version of Beyond Dark was privately released to a small number of testers! You can find out more about Alpha on our release overview.
Releasing this Alpha enables us to:
- Collect vital player feedback in preparation for Beta, including what we need to prioritize to make the game as enjoyable as possible for future players.
- Test the game for bugs and discrepancies.
- Make gameplay balancing adjustments.
The Alpha Galaxy
Around 50 players are currently in the same galaxy right now – which has been running for over 120 hours – with the top players having already assembled some powerful empires!
There are some ominous looking fleets on the prowl and we’re excited to see how it all plays out. But there’s plenty of space still left to claim, in fact…
More invites going out soon!
Over the next few hours we’ll be sending out another batch of random Alpha invites to some of you that have previously signed up for Beta.
It won’t be many, but we’re hoping to add another 50 players only to the Alpha galaxy to help us out by playing/testing.
Although this galaxy has been running for a few days, our game joining algorithm should start new players in an area of the galaxy with players of a similar level. You’ll have the opportunity to find your feet and build a force of your own, before exploring and competing for valuable star systems further from home.
Alpha quality won’t be suitable for everyone, so if you do receive an invite but would prefer to wait until the more stable Beta – that’s fine 🙂 Otherwise, we’ll look forward to seeing you in the game!
